In the distant 1898 in the village of Malki Chiflik, located only 3 km from the town of Veliko Tarnovo, the construction of the now famous Chamurkov house began. The construction of the building was completed in 1904. There are a total of five similar houses in the village with an ideal view of the facades, richly decorated with ornaments and unique style. Chamurkov Guest House is the largest among them, but also the most impressive with its rich ornaments on the facade.
A century later, Mr. Veselin Chamurkov bought the house from the then owner, grandmother Katya, who together with grandfather Georgi led a typical economic life in the village. The family was involved in raising livestock and farming. In the house on the walls in the small kitchen are preserved old photos of Grandma Katya and Grandpa George as a sign of respect and esteem. Veselin Chamurkov undertakes the difficult task of completely restoring the property to its original appearance, completely restoring the interior of the house in order to preserve all the wooden elements, the beautiful wood carvings on the walls and ceilings. He also turned the former barn for the animals of Grandma Katya and Grandpa George into today’s Annex to the house, which has its own Studio and Suite with two double rooms.
Chamurkov Guest House is completely modernized and tailored to the full experience of its guests. It offers a magical experience, a journey back in time with nostalgia for the past and a taste of peace and quiet in today’s fast-paced days. The interior features many antiques, such as several radios, TVs, turntables, and the icing on the cake is the 200-year-old piano-powered air piano. The building has become a center for photographers, artists and sculptors. Several plein airs (open-air art activities) were organized, where the masters of art presented their creations.
