Krushuna Waterfalls
Krushuna waterfalls are the largest travertine natural cascade in Bulgaria. The village of Krushuna, where the waterfalls are located, is located about 80 km from Veliko Tarnovo or an hour drive in the direction of Sofia. The area of the Devetashko Plateau is a large karst natural phenomenon. There is also the “Maarata” cave, which in translation means a cave. More than 30 caves have been discovered in the area, 4 of which are the most famous.
Here everything is the work of God, as if he created with his artist’s brush. Iridescent colors and shades make you bow before the divine creation. The sky blue color of the water is due to the calcareous rock deposits, and the moss on the rocks adds to the colorful setting. The numerous waterfalls and flowing water form unique and beautiful stone formations and water pools of various shapes and sizes. Above 15 meters is the highest waterfall named Praskaloto.
At the beginning of the area, there is a large parking lot and a barrier where there is also a ticket office for paid entry. There is also a large swimming pool for public use (reservation required).
We recommend that you combine your walk to Krushuna Waterfalls with the exceptional Devetashka Cave, Kakrinsko hanche Inn and why not visit the Zoo in the town of Lovech.
